Community Service Programs
The Media Food Bank offers a Community Service Program for individuals looking to give back to their community. Our program provides a structured environment where participants can contribute to our mission of nourishing local families. Whether you are seeking to fulfill school requirements, legal obligations, or professional development, our program is designed to be inclusive and impactful.
Eligibility Requirements

School or Job Requirements
The first is volunteer opportunities for students and others required to complete hours for school or work. Anyone interested in community service for this reason, should review our volunteer policies. The tasks for this type of service are food sorting, shelving, receiving, and participating as assigned when we give food to our neighbors.

Court-Ordered Community Service
Our program is based in restorative justice and requires meeting with our community engagement coordinator. This meeting is mandatory in order for us to sign your paperwork and can be arranged by contacting us by email or by calling the office. At this meeting, we will discuss what led to the offense, taking responsibility, and developing a plan to avoid further involvement in the justice system.
The best service opportunities are collaborative—working side by side with others. When you participate in our program, you may be asked to clean the food bank and church, sort and store food, assist with distribution (when we give food to our neighbors), assist with public events, weeding, landscaping, or helping other individuals.
As a community of loving accountability, we commit to upholding the law and following the sentencing requirements until they are completed. In addition to this we have offered our church as a site for persons to complete community service in Delaware County. We ask all participants to follow our volunteer guidelines and to take accountability for their choices and actions.
We work with low-level, non-violent offenders only.
Important Note
You must notify us that you are serving due to court order by calling or emailing us before you begin volunteering. You can email info@firstchurchmedia.org or call the church office at 610-566-3172.
